HOW TO PLAN UNPLANNED THINGS?

OK, sometimes I agree with my self. Like right now. How the heck do you plan for things that you can’t really plan when you do all the other planning of things you now? Well.. adapt and conquer the problem. I think I’ve done the planning well now, and on Wednesday we’ll know if I did it.

Anyway, the weekend was great. Relaxing in Göteborg with friends I haven’t seen for a while, which was just perfect. I’ve never been a “Göteborg”-person when I was younger, due to my sisters and grand parents in Stockholm, but I like the city of Göteborg more and more for every visit. And for every time I’ll discover new things.

We took a walk along the river and then across the Älvsborgs-bridge, where I will run in the end of May, and now I know how hard that will be. Well, the bridge isn’t the worst part, but the way up to the bridge. I’ll better give my self some really good training until then, so I’ll manage it.

NEW TOYS AND LIBRARIES

Ok, I can confess that it’s not good for the moral of my thesis work to buy a new camera in the middle of it, because now I spend more time playing around with the camera than writing what I have to write. But I’ll write it later, and I think it is ok to play with the camera, because I have to get usued to it. Otherwise I can’t use it later on when I need it. The second bad thing with a camera is that I now have a stupid idea that I might have to buy a new computer later on, because I don’t think that my present one is capable of handling the HD-movie files (if I ever take any movies with the camera).

Heading down to the library now to pick up a book/article I’ve ordered. Good to have so close to the library that I just can skip down there and pick it up. Looking forward to the weekend, with tons of things in my head spinning around and some studies that has to be made and written down.

Oh, and by the way.. it’s still spring in Karlskrona, and I still like it!

A STRANGE FAREWELL

– The world is turning green once more…

Yesterday I attended some presentation of thesises (spelling?) that some friend had. While there I ran into an old friend from my first years of studies here, so in the evening I threw together a dinner and we had to recap alot of things. After dinner we went to the city centre where some other friends had a moving-away-farewell-dinner for my neighbour.

It just feels so wierd that she is moving away. After all these years she has been living here. And now, on Saturday, she will be gone. It’s hard to cope with, but I have to, because she has sold her apartment, packed all her stuff into the small half-cute boxes, and there is another person moving into her apartment after she is gone.

And in all this I have to focus on my thesis. Write write and write even more, and read read read read. It never ends. And prepare the questions for the interviews during the field study, and everything else I have to do while in the area.

But everything is not hard and feels difficult. I picked up my new “baby” yesterday. Well.. that’s my new camera for you who know me. The thesis is just a bad excuse to buy a new toy, but I think it is ok because the old one has served me well for the last three years. Sometimes it’s time to let go of the old and focus on the new. But that’s just so much easier when it comes to “things” than “friends”. But friends are still there.. no matter how far away you are.

Edit at 16.30 – I took the photo on the way back to my apartment from school. Feels almost strange with 14° C in the shade and sunshine. But yes, I like it.

HARD WORK AND KEEP FOCUS

Well, time to start updating here I think. Everthing is slowly falling into the right spot, and right now I have so much to do. I’m sitting with the nose in literature about tourism, infrastructure and sustainable development, and I can honestly say that those areas are not the easiest to break down to understandable text and while trying write something academic-stylish with it.

And besides that I have my own personal goals of things I have to do before I depart, there are still alot of other things. Last Sunday I managed to go to Göteborg and participated in the seeding-race for the Göteborgs-varvet (21km running competition in the end of May) so I would get e better starting group than all the way back in the end. It went as I planned (I told my dad I was aiming for a time between 50 to 55 minutes on the 10,5 km long run, and I did it on 52:30 min, so I’m satisfied). I’m looking forward to the high altitude training I’ll get soon. And yes, all types of running in another city is high altitude training for me, since Karlskrona is just at the see.. and it can’t get anything closer to the sea level.

Oh.. and tomorrow I’m picking up my new “toy” (i.e. “camera”). There is always need for bad excuses for new toys.. and now I have the perfect excuse.. “master thesis”.. then anything is OK.
